I didn’t grow up with a camera in hand — I was raised by a strong, no-nonsense single mom who taught us the value of discipline, hard work, and not wasting our potential. Creativity came later, when I picked up a camera in my mid-20s and something just clicked — literally and emotionally.

The success of my business didn’t just fall into my lap. It’s built on years of working with real people, earning real trust, and showing up with intention every damn time. That’s what keeps new and returning clients coming back. And I don’t take that lightly.

DUDE!
How did it all start?

Photography became my way of really seeing people — their stories, their emotions, and the quiet, in-between moments that often get overlooked. That connection lit a fire in me I didn’t expect, and I’ve been chasing it ever since.

the nitty gritty of the success of my business:

I was born in the U.S. and raised by a parent who immigrated here — someone who worked hard, stood tall, and taught us to do the same. That shaped everything. I’m living proof that the American dream still exists if you’re willing to do the work and stand for something.

And let’s be honest — if that wasn’t true, why do people like my parents keep coming here? We’ve traveled. We’ve seen other countries. We’ve felt the difference. For all its flaws, America still offers something rare: opportunity, freedom, and the power to carve out your own path if you’re bold enough to take it.

My Salvadoran and Mexican heritage gave me strength, discipline, and resilience. But being American is what gave me the chance to turn that into something bigger — and I carry that pride with me every single day.

Every Gangsta Needs Their Home

We’ve been married for 15 years — first loves, still best friends. And I’ve learned just how rare that is, especially after spending years in this industry documenting love stories of all kinds. He’s my steady in the chaos, my behind-the-scenes MVP, and the reason I offer first responder discounts — though we keep the details of his career private out of respect for our marriage and the life we’ve built.

He’s the kind of man who carries my gear, reminds me to eat, reads the map when we’re out in the middle of nowhere, and somehow always keeps me grounded when I’m pulled in a million directions. His support is a huge reason I’m able to pour so much into my clients — because I know someone’s always got my back.

He’s also the reason I named my business
Yosemite’s Golden Photography.
Yosemite has always been our place — a reset button, a sacred escape from the noise, and a reminder of what truly matters. The “golden” part? That’s the light we’d chase on those trips together. The kind of light that makes everything feel softer, more honest, and more alive. Just like him, really.

We’ve built a life rooted in intention, loyalty, and just the right amount of chaos. If there’s one thing I’ve learned after all these years, it’s this: don’t go to bed mad. Say what needs to be said. Be honest. Be transparent.

Or — real talk — find someone who was loved properly as a kid, and use all the dysfunction you witnessed growing up as a blueprint of what not to do. That combo? It’s healing, hilarious, and oddly effective.

Love takes effort. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it. That’s why I do what I do — to capture the kind of love that lasts, the kind that fights for itself, and the kind that’s real.

Because at the end of the day, every gangster needs their home. The truth is, people who live with intensity — who are strong, independent, and fiery — don’t want more chaos. They want peace, safety, and someone who’ll ride with them through all of it. That’s what we are for each other.
